I finally did it!

A few weeks back I made a choice, one that could well have backfired again as it has for many years. I decided to try and move to Linux once again as my daily driver. I knew there would be issues, one being that I stream on Twitch and my capture card was Windows only (fuck you Elgato) but if it worked for me there were solutions and paths that I could venture down.

So for the last few weeks I have been mainlining Linux via Mint and dual-booting for streams into Windows 11, an OS I have used for years but have slowly been wishing to dump completely due to the practices over at Microsoft. Well, that time is here! I will make some in-depth posts about how I got here but this one is just a statement, my public newsletter to the World that I.AM.DONE!

In the past 2 days I have bought and installed a new, faster, better 2TB nvme and it is fully Linux. Windows no longer exists in my life and I can finally breathe without threat from both inside Microsoft and outside in the general web driven bollocks that is malware, virus and general privacy issues.

So, I am done streaming… WHAT!? Nah! I also purchased a BlackMagic Intensity Pro 4k and have taken out the Elgato (a card I loved but can no longer use) so Real Hardware streams will be back next week but with no dual booting.

I have 4TB of storage, everything else works perfectly and when not streaming there are currently no games I cannot play as I did in Windows 11. It is as the saying goes, hunky dory. I even sorted AGS (Amiga Game Selector) in Linux and like most things it works better outside of the MS environment.

So, see y’all hopefully this upcoming week breathing fresh air with no smog bringing me down!

I did it! (and yes, you can expect me to tell everyone constantly now I am a free man)
